Tools & materials required: 4mm & 5mm Allen "hex" wrenches (not supplied)
- Mark the current position of your old mounted ZB brackets (items 7 and 8 in the diagram below). (The curved ZB bracket arms are initially setup to "Z" back toward the rider. If a more forward position is desired, switch the right and left ZB bracket assemblies and they will now "Z" forward.)
- Remove the left and right ZB bracket (items 7 and 8 in the diagram below) using a 5mm Allen wrench. Save the four M6x25 socket cap bolts. (Item 6 in the diagram below).
- Remove both left and right arm pads (items 11 and 12 in the diagram below) by hand. They are attached with Velcro.
- Remove both left and right arm troughs (Items 9 and 10 in the diagram below) from the old ZB brackets using a 4mm Allen wrench. There are two bolts per arm trough. (Items 15 and 16 in the diagram below) Save all these old parts except for the old ZB brackets themselves (items 7 and 8 in the diagram below). Destroy and dispose of the old ZB brackets.
- Reinstall the left and right arm troughs from the old ZB brackets onto the new brackets (using your original position) using a 4mm Allen wrench. Use whatever riser posts (item 17 in the diagram below) you may have had installed previously. Also use the F-18 washers (item 13 in the diagram below). Evenly tighten the four M6x25 socket cap bolts (Items 15 and 16 in the diagram below) to their original torque per the original instructions.
- Reinstall the new welded ZB brackets into the same position as your old ZB brackets. Make sure the armrest troughs and pads are pointed in the forward direction as in the diagram below. The ZB brackets screw into the bottom bracket (item 3 in the diagram below) which holds the aerobar extensions (items 1 and 2 in the diagram below). Use the original four M6x25 socket cap bolts from the old ZB brackets. (Item 6 in the diagram below). Make sure you use grease to cover the threads of the 4 bolts before installing them. Evenly tighten the four M6x25 socket cap bolts (Items 6 in the diagram below) to their original torque per the original instructions with a 5 mm Allen wrench.
- Recheck all bolts before riding and periodically to insure they remain tightened per the original instructions.
