Wetsuit Tips

The first generation of Triathlon-specific wetsuits was introduced nearly 25 years ago, and although there have been upgrades and advances in materials, construction, and patterning, they are still made of lightweight, buoyant smooth skin neoprene. Your wetsuit is an expensive well-crafted and designed piece of technical equipment.  A few minutes of care each time you use it will prolong its life and keep it fast, warm, and flexible for seasons to come.

Things to do:
•    Relax, and take your time.
•    Place plastic bags on the feet/ankles to allow the suit to slide up easily
•    Work from the ankles/calves up
•    Use Suit Juice, or another approved lubricant
•    Rinse suit with cool, fresh water after each use
•    For cleaning, use Profile Design’s Wetsuit Shampoo
•    Hang inside out to dry on a thick hanger
•    Store in a cool, dry place inside out, lying flat or folded once across the waist.
•    For Travel turn suit inside out

Things to avoid:
•    Use only specifically designed wetsuit lubricant
•    Use only for swimming
•    Do not hang wetsuit for more than two weeks
• Avoid direct sunlight and direct heat
• Be gentle and do not pinch the neoprene
• Avoid over stretching wetsuit
• Do not shorten or alter the wetsuit
