Volna Aerobar Prize giveaway on Le Tour Challenge of mapmyride.com
Profile Design is giving away Volna Aerobars as a prize on the mapmyride.com "virtual" Tour de France with Le Tour Challenge
Denver, CO – (June 29, 2009) – MapMyRide.com, the Internet’s premier provider of online mapping and training tools
that help cyclists of all levels achieve their health and fitness goals, and VERSUS, the cable television home of the Tour
de France and professional cycling in the U.S., partner to host the Le Tour Challenge.
The Le Tour Challenge gives cyclists around the world the opportunity to “virtually” compete in the 2009 Tour de France.
On the day of any given Tour stage, a participant can submit his or her ride data to MapMyRide.com and receive back a
calculated “Virtual Stage Time” — the actual time he or she would have posted racing alongside the pros on that day.
The innovative technology enabled Challenge provides participants the opportunity at winning prizes collectively worth thousands of dollars which will be awarded in daily random drawings. Prizes include a Trek Travel Grand Prize Trip Package for two to watch the 2009 Tour’s final stage and Parlee Z4 and Cervelo S2 bikes. In addition, participants who post the lowest Virtual time on each stage will win custom jerseys, and overall leaders who compile the most Virtual points will be awarded virtual Tour leader yellow jerseys.
“Combining our world class online fitness technology with VERSUS’s world class coverage of the Tour, will allow us to engage average cyclists like never before. At MapMyRide.com, we aim to help people achieve more active and healthier lifestyles, and we believe the Le Tour Challenge moves us closer to that goal by motivating the participants to get on their bikes and see how they stack up against the pros. And, if the thrill of zipping through the European countryside is not enough to get them riding, maybe the prospect of winning thousands of dollars in prizes will!” states Robin Thurston, CEO of MapMyFitness, Inc.
Additional Le Tour Challenge prize sponsors include: Trek Travel, Hincapie Sportswear, Mission Skincare, Camelbak, Rudy
Project, Continental Tires, Fulcrum Wheels, Campagnolo, Carmichael Training Systems, Osprey Packs, Selle AMP, Sci’Con,
Look Cycle USA, Shimano, Pro Bike Gear, Thule, Parlee Cycles, SRM, Cervelo, Terry Precision Cycling, Edge Composites,
GU Energy, Powerbar, Profile Design, Polar, and Road ID, with the list growing larger daily.
The Le Tour Challenge starts on July 4th to coincide with the Tour de France. Coverage on VERSUS of the Tour de France
starts Saturday July 4th at 9:30 ET.
