Three victories for the Commerzbank Triathlon Team this Sunday: Normann Stadler wins Challenge Kraichgau/ Markus Fachbach is the new German Middle Distance Champion/ Jan Raphael celebrates his fourth title at Wasserstadt Triathlon.

Three athletes of the Commerzbank Triathlon Team were successful today and won their races over the middle distance. Normann Stadler dominated Challenge Kraichgau, Markus Fachbach celebrated his first German title over the middle distance and Jan Raphael won Wasserstadt Triathlon for the fourth time in a row.

The double Hawaii Champion Stadler finished after 3:54:22 hours – too fast for the South African James Cunnama and the German Michael Göhner who got second and third. Titleholder Sebastian Kienle had a bike crash and was not able to finish the race. Normann Stadler said: “Today I was feeling extremely well during the whole race. But the best news was to hear that Sebastian didn’t get seriously hurt.”

At the German Middle Distance Championship in Kulmbach, Markus Fachbach took the lead after ten kilometers on the running course. Until the end of the race he did not let pass his compatriot Horst Reichel who finished second. Fachbach said: “Horst already won against Chris McCormack two years ago. Today it was not easy to beat him either. I’m very proud of this success today. It means a lot to me and shows that my performance is getting better and better.”

Jan Raphael added the third success for the Commerzbank Team at Wasserstadt Triathlon near his hometown Hannover. The 30-year-old athlete was more than 17 minutes faster than the second placed Mads Petersen from Denmark. Keld Thomson from Denmark got third. Raphael said: “This success was not only a victory but a really good performance. It gave me self-confidence again. That’s the most important.”

Mathias Hecht was not the lucky one today. At Ironman 70.3 Switzerland he finished 10th. Michael Raelert from Germany won the race in front of Ronnie Schildknecht and Olivier Marceau.
