Pip Taylor Finishes Second in Ironman Kansas 70.3 Triathlon
Pip has finished second in the Ironman Kansas 70.3 Triathlon to three time IM World Champion Chrissie Wellington. Pip exited the swim with a 3 minute lead on Wellington and set about maintaining this gap on the bike. She held first place until 60km into the bike leg after which Wellington took the lead. Wellington pushed the last third of the bike course to establish a 4 min advantage at the start of the run. On the run Wellington pushed the pace and Pip was unable to challenge suffering some gastric distress (and some port-o-potty visits) but held on to finish in second. Linsey Corbin rounded out the podium in third place.
Pip said, "Chrissie is the benchmark in the sport right now and I wanted to take it to her today. I figured I would put it out there from the start and whatever happened would happen. I was disapointed to have some problems on the run, but I did what I could on the day and have to be happy with that. It has been two seconds in two years to Chrissie here in Kansas and I look forward to having another go at winning in 2011".
Next up for Pip is the first round of the LTF Triathlon Series in Philadelphia. Read more here
