Matty Reed wins at Miami International Triathlon 2009

Miami, Florida - Profile Design sponsored athlete and 2008 USA Olympian Matty Reed showed that last year was no fluke today defending his title at the Profile Design Miami International Triathlon. Reed exited the water in 3rd, swapped some places on the bike and took the lead on the run, finishing ahead of 2004 Olympian Andy Potts and Ironman Champion Chris Lieto.

"I am happy with today and it felt good to be back racing," Reed said. "I felt okay all day, never great but I was happy with my effort and was happy that I could push through my asthma on the run and win. It was a good field today and hats off to my competitors."

Not only that, but it's a great opportunity to race and set a course record at an event that is title sponsored by my personal sponsor Profile Design. To have won this event twice, it takes the best and fastest equipment. Being aero and comfortable is key to training and racing. Profile Design is an integral part of me winning!

Reed collected a resume of wins last season including 2008 NationalTitle and the win at 2008 Olympic Trials and the first goal this year was to start the year off right.

"Last season I came to this race and won and it set a good rhythm for the year. I wanted to do the same this year. I stayed home in Colorado this whole winter and did some good hard work and am happy with the start to 2009."

Next up for Reed is 70.3 Oceanside, where Reed will step up the distance which he has not raced in 5 years. Then Reed heads to St. Anthony's Triathlon late April to defend his title in St. Petersburg. "I am looking forward to 2009 and trying to race consistent and step up my game."
