Huge weekend of competition update

Congratulations to all competitors. Here’s a quick weekend race review:

  • At the inaugural ITU World “Cross Triathlon” (off road) Championships, PD- and Titec-sponsored athletes Conrad Stoltz (RSA) and Canadian Melanie McQuaid brought home the gold in grand style. USA Wetsuit poster boy Josiah Middaugh just missed the podium with a strong 4th place finish.
  • On the other side of the world , Kiwi Joanna lawn dominated the women’s field by 20 minutes at the Port McQuarie (Australia) 70.3. Proud Australian PD athlete Belinda Granger squeaked into the prize field with 4th place finish, also garnering Kona qualifying points in the process. .
  • Closer to home, 2010 IM Kona winner Mirinda Carfrae raced to a 3rd place finish at the hot, humid, hilly and windy St. Croix 70.3.  Rinny’s already placed 2nd at Ironman NZ in March and ran herself to a stunning victory at the Oceanside 70.3 last month. She’s spent the past 4 weeks training in the Southern California desert, aiming to successfully defend her Ironman Crown in October. Kate Major, who trains with Mirinda on Team Sirius, placed 5th, earning both a paycheck and coveted Kona Qualifying points.
  • Matty Reed finished 2nd in a packed men’s field at the St. Anthony’s Olympic 5i50 (Olympic distance) tri in FL.  Draft legal specialist Chris Foster rounded out the top 10. In the women’s field, Virginia-based and med school student Nicole Kelleher continued her successful rookie pro season by finishing 7th among the women. Nicole belongs to Team IE, using Profile Design wetsuits and speedsuits, wheels, bars, and hydration.
  • On another hot hilly and windy course, this one at Wild Flower Long Course in Central California, Chris Legh biked and ran himself to a 5th place finish in talented men’s field .  2nd year rookie pro Charisa Wernick had a course PR and placed 13th in  possibly the deepest and most talented women’s field of all the races this weekend. Her comment after the race “This course kicks my butt. Every year I finish and swear I’m not coming back, but every year somehow here I am again…” Charisa’s using Profile Design wheels, bars, and hydration, and has improved her swim and bike.  Charisa is a very talented runner, so improving the first two segments allows her to get off the bike more rested and ready to reel anyone within striking distance. We’ll be looking for a podium finish later this season!

Congratulations on excellent performances from all our Profile Design athletes, and a very happy Monday too everyone.
