Competition update
On a hot and windy day in St. George Utah, Commerzbank athletes Mathias Hecht and Maik Twelsiek had a classic battle straight from the opening cannon. Both had excellent swims, advantage to Hecht, but Twelsiek went straight to the front on the bike.
Off the bike with a 3:45 lead, Twelsiek held on until mile 17, when Hecht went past him. Behind the top two, there was carnage in the men’s field. Defending champ Michi Weiss dropped out with cramps and back spasms, and hot and dry weather took a huge toll on Ben Hoffman and Mike Ambrose. In the end, TJ Tollakson (who along with Twelsiek make their winter homes in Tucson AZ) ran his way into third place.
On the other side of the World, Profile Design Athlete Joanna Lawn made it two in a row when she ran herself to the win at the Busselton (Australia) 70.3. PD athlete Belinda Granger had another good day, finishing in 4th.
Jo is now headed to the US to contest Ironman Texas in two weeks.
Congratulations to all of our Profile Design athletes on their great performances this weekend!
